Our Mission

Queer Peers gets LGBT young adults 18+ exposed to healthy lifestyle choices and thus helps them to set right priorities at the early stages of their lives. Queer Peers allows well-balanced successful professional LGBT individuals to share their wisdom and life experience with the younger generation and positively contributes to the future of the gay community of Toronto.

Welcome to Queer Peers!

Mentor and Mentee

Queer Peers brings different generations of LGBT community members together by pairing mentors and mentees based on matching interests, skills, objectives etc. Mentors connect with mentees bi-weekly/monthly based on mutual availability and agreement.

The purpose of meetings is for mentors to share their experience and wisdom, provide day to day advice on the issues mentees are currently facing, as well as help mentees form long term life plans, including education, career and relationships, through open ongoing dialog, trust and support.

How It Works

The program is offered under the Queer West umbrella.*  Mentors/mentees may apply to Queer Peers for an interview with Queer Peers staff.

Queer Peers matches mentors with mentees. Mentors and mentees are provided with guidelines, communication protocols, responsibilities and other useful information that allows both sides to get the most value out of their participation in the program. Monthly gatherings for all the participants of the program allow peers to share their experiences, as well as learn from other mentorship success stories.

Suggested minimum commitment is a six month period after which pairs will have an option to either continue their mentorship relationship or switch partners.

Our program encourages get-togethers, open forums, talks and discussions, including group and panel discussions to supplement one-on-one mentorship.
